Volunteerism hits Valley Dental Health | Hunt Valley, MD
Did you know that Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat take great pride in giving back to the community and to the profession of dentistry?
Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat are in the process of finalizing their appointments as Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland. Both Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School and Advanced General Dentistry residency program. Dr. Rafat also earned his Master’s Degree and certificates in Periodontics and Implant & Periodontal Prosthodontics from the University of Maryland. As Dean’s Faculty, they will volunteer their time in an effort to educate the next generation of dental professionals. It is especially gratifying for Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat to return to the Advanced General Dentistry residency program, where they both earned the Harry WF Dressel Jr Award for excellence in all facets of clinical patient care (known as the “Resident of the Year Award”). Dr. Izadi was honored as a second-year resident and Dr. Rafat was honored as a first-year resident in the same year, so they got to share a cake!
In April of this year, Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat took part in Dental Day at the office of Dr. Keith Schmidt in Towson. They have been participating in Dental Day since its inception in 2010, and they are planning on bringing a Dental Day to Valley Dental Health in the very near future. During Dental Day, local organizations bring people who need emergency services but can’t afford treatment to a participating office. Dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and other team members volunteer their time, supplies and resources to the effort. This year we treated over 50 people in one afternoon! We hope to treat more every year.
