Valley Dental Health

Dental FAQs

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, Valley Dental Health is located in Cockeysville, MD, and gladly welcomes new patients from Hunt Valley, MD, and the greater Baltimore metro area.

Do you see children?

Yes, Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat are family dentists near Hunt Valley, Maryland. We generally begin seeing children at age 3, when all of the primary teeth have emerged. We also offer complimentary “first visits” starting as young as age 1 as a way to introduce your little ones to the dental office and minimize future dental anxieties.

This “first visit” is typically nothing more than a quick examination of the teeth that are present accompanied by lots of encouragement and positive reinforcement from our dental team and you, the parent.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Yes, we will accept any dental insurance plans and will gladly process your claim. Please bring the necessary information with you on your first visit. Dental insurance policies generally cover only a portion of the total treatment cost.

Unless other arrangements have been made, we ask that you pay your portion of the bill at the time of treatment. It is your responsibility to pay any balance not paid by your insurance company.

What do I do if I have a dental emergency?

If you have a dental emergency, contact our office for further instruction. If it is during normal office hours, we will do our best to see you as quickly as possible. For emergencies after hours or during the weekend, contact our office and leave a voicemail.

Our doctors receive after-hours and weekend voicemails and will be able to respond to you to determine the best treatment for your emergency.

Can you replace missing teeth?

Dr. Rafat is one of the most highly trained periodontists in the Baltimore area. His expertise in periodontics and prosthodontics gives you access to the latest treatments and techniques for replacing missing teeth.

In addition to dental bridges and traditional dentures, Dr. Izadi and Dr. Rafat offer dental implants, implant-supported dentures, and dental implant-supported bridge.

What causes my jaw to pop when I open it?

There is a disk that separates the jaw bone from the base of the skull. The primary cause of the “popping” occurs when the jaw bone “pops” off the disk. The noises can be due to a number of reasons, including issues with the bite.

If left untreated, structural damage to the joint can occur over time. Learn more about TMJ Therapy.

Do you offer cosmetic dentistry?

Yes, Dr. Rafat is experienced in prosthodontics and Dr. Izadi has had specialty level training in cosmetic dentistry and is a provider of Invisalign. Whether you wish to make subtle changes to your smile or experience a dramatic transformation, we offer a range of treatment options.

Our cosmetic dentistry services include teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, cosmetic contouring cosmetic bonding and tooth straightening procedures.

How often should I visit the dentist for teeth cleaning and check-up?

The American Dental Association recommends a minimum of two visits per year (every six months) for an oral examination and professional dental cleaning.

Additionally, radiographs (digital x-rays) are required once per year to visualize areas between your teeth and evaluate bone levels that cannot be seen during the exam. Some patients benefit from more frequent visits; your dentist will recommend a schedule that is best suited for your condition.

The staff are all very friendly and make you feel right at home. I especially love Tiffany at the front desk, she’s the best! I have been coming here for about 6 years now and haven’t had any complaints. I got to meet Dr. Gear and she was fantastic. She took her time to explain the preventive care that was being suggested, answered all of my questions in great detail, and diligently and quickly did my fill in. I highly recommend this dental office!!
